CTN TORAH MINUTE

Posted by rabbi.deutsch on 02 May 2012 / 0 Comment

Hope you’re having a great day.

As we saw yesterday, G-d created Eve.  And we had our first couple.

But G-d didn’t just create Eve.

He brought her to Adam! (2:22)

And it’s not like they wouldn’t have found each other.

There weren’t a whole lot of eligible singles around!

It’s a very powerful image.

And a very powerful message.  For all times.

G-d wanted to make it very clear.

“This relationship is really important to me.

Make it as special and as meaningful as possible”.

And I would like to be part of the relationship.  Bring spirituality into your home.

… Eve was a gift from G-d to Adam.

And G-d gave us another gift.

One that can bring spirituality into our home.  And help keep our relationships special.

Shabbat!

… I once read a book written by two marital therapists.

They had found that in many marriages something happened pretty soon.

Something very surprising.

The romance started waning.  The “magic” started wearing off.

It wasn’t what it “once was.”

They attributed it to busy lifestyles.

A lack of communication.  Not enough time together.

… Listen to their solution.

“Take a twenty four hour period.  No work.  Don’t even talk about work.

Talk to each other.  Connect to each other.

Does this sound familiar?

… I find it amazing!

When we look for ways of dealing with the challenges of the 21st century, what do we come up with?

Shabbat!

Something the Jewish People have been doing for 3000 years!

… There are many benefits from Shabbat.

And relationship building is one.

So if we already do Shabbat?

Let’s try to make even better.

And if we don’t?

Let’s try to make Friday night special.

Let’s try to make it Shabbat.
