CTN TORAH MINUTE

Hi,
Many Jews may have been wondering at the Seder.
“The Exodus? Splitting of the Sea?
Why did G-d stop doing miracles?”
… He didn’t!
In fact one of His miracles is 58 years old today!
Today is Yom Ha’atzmaut. Israeli Independence Day.
Mazal Tov!
… Here’s something I think about often. Especially on a day like today.
Picture going back to the year 70.
The Romans destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple.
Hundreds of thousands of Jews were sold as slaves.
It looks like it’s all over.
But you approach a Roman soldier. And tell him the following.
“Don’t worry. We’ll be back.
And you’ll be in the museum”!
He would think you’re absolutely crazy!
… Then you continue.
“If you happen to be around in the 21st Century?
I invite you to come to the Roman stadium in Caesarea.
And enjoy a concert from the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra!
He’d think you’re absolutely out of your mind!
… But if that Roman soldier would come back today?
Here’s what he would say.
“I guess the Jews were right. There is a G-d.
And He does do miracles!”
… The Romans didn’t just destroy Jerusalem.
They were out to destroy Judaism and the Jewish People.
Teaching Torah was a capital offense. They burned every Torah scroll they could find.
So picture the look on the Roman soldier’s face as he checked his e-mail.
“CTN Daily Torah Study”!
Or as he read the CTN Shabbat Fax.
“Jerusalem Torah Study for Women. Right here in Chicago.
Learn with Holly Pavlov, Dean, Shearim College of Jewish Studies for Women”!
… And talk about miracles?
Shearim is not a typical “College of Jewish Studies”.
It’s an amazing school for women without extensive Jewish backgrounds.
Where women come from all over the world to experience the beauty of Torah study.
And come away with the tools to learn Torah on their own.
… So whether you’re a man or a woman?
Celebrate the miracle of Jewish survival.
And if you’re a woman?
Treat yourself to an amazing experience.
Register to hear Holly Pavlov of Jerusalem tomorrow night!
