Hi,
Hope you’re having a great day.
… I was driving to synagogue the other day for morning services.
Let’s just say…
I wasn’t early!
I was coming from a minor street and turning on to a major street.
And they don’t give you too much time.
In fact?
Right after the light turns green?
It starts a count down. Starts flashing numbers.
Thirteen. Twelve. Eleven…
There were a few cars ahead of me and I was getting nervous.
I’m thinking, “Let’s go! Let’s go! Time’s running out!”
I need to get to services!
Seven. Six. Five…
I missed it.
… It got me thinking.
Because tremendous opportunities come our way.
A chance to say something that can lift someone’s spirits.
Really make a difference in their day.
Or even their life.
It may just take a few seconds.
But if we don’t do it then?
The opportunity may pass.
We get involved in something else. Or we just push it off.
And it doesn’t happen.
Which is a real shame.
Here are some of the things we can say in less than five seconds.
“I’ve been thinking about you. Just wanted to let you know I care.
I’m so proud of you. Please let me do that for you. You look terrific.
Your kid did something special.”
Next time the opportunity comes my way?
I’m going to think of those flashing numbers.
Thirteen. Twelve. Eleven … Seven. Six. Five…
And I’m going to say to myself…
“Let’s go. Let’s go. Time’s running out.
… Say it now!”
All the best,
