CTN TORAH MINUTE

Hi,

Sorry I missed you on Friday.

We were speaking about the importance shared goals in a marriage.

… And shared goals don’t just make a marriage more meaningful.

They make it more romantic!

Because the more meaningful our goals?

The deeper our lives.

And the deeper the bond will be with our partner in life.

… The Jewish community recently lost a very special woman.

Mrs. Pesah Leibowitz.

The wife of one of the great Torah scholars of our generation.

And the Dean of one of America’s largest Yeshivas.

I had the privilege of knowing her.  And of being inspired by her.

… Rabbi Henoch Leibowitz eulogized his wife of over fifty years.

He wasn’t the eloquent speaker he always was.

In fact, he could hardly speak.

But it may have been the most inspiring message he ever delivered.

Rabbi Leibowitz stood there crying.  Repeating the same thing.

Over and over again.  And again.

“We did everything together.  We did everything together!”

… The thousands of people touched by him and his wife knew exactly what he meant.

Although they knew that they were both incredibly busy people.

Gave so much of their time to the Jewish People.

Were always available for others in need.  Around the clock.

And they did not spend a lot of time together.

But they did everything together!

They shared one goal.

To insure the Jewish future.

To inspire their students to become the best Jews and the best human beings possible.

So the world would be a better place.

Together they decided to devote their lives to others.

And thousands of men and women were inspired by them to do the same.

Or to at least try.

… She had a tremendous sensitivity for every human being.

She used to say, “Why do they put pictures of people in the newspaper?

What happens to the paper when people are finished?

It’s crumbled up and thrown in the garbage!

But there are pictures of human beings.

And every person is created in the Image of G-d!”

… Let’s try to be as sensitive to real people as she was to a picture!
