Hi,
I attended a Bar Mitzvah this past Shabbos.
And here’s a parable about life that I heard from the Rabbi.
… There were two friends who had the same dream.
To build their own home. Their own “dream house”.
One guy?
Invests in architecture school. Leans the skills needed. Comes up with a plan.
The second guy?
“Too busy for all those courses”.
He’s incredibly talented. And will figure it out by himself.
Starts cutting and fitting.
“No. That’s no good. That won’t hold.
Let’s cut it this way. Or maybe that way.
Hum. That didn’t work as well as I expected!
… Years go by.
The first guy?
He’s enjoying his dream house.
The second guy?
He finally has it figured out.
The only problem?
He has no wood left!
…Life is like that.
There are so many questions.
How did we get here? And why are we here?
What are we supposed to do now that we’re here?
What’s right. What’s wrong?
How can we make our lives meaningful?
… G-d spoke to Moshe at Mount Sinai. (Leviticus, 25:1)
G-d gave us the Torah. The Handbook.
His instructions for life.
The answers to life’s questions are all there.
On the other hand?
We can spend years trying to figure life out by ourselves.
And maybe once in a while someone may get it right.
But by the time they do?
There may not be that much time left!
… Here’s a way to figure life out in just eleven days!
And have a great time while you’re doing it!
It’s an incredible summer program for students and young Jewish professionals.
I am personally familiar with it. And highly recommend it!
Just eight business days and two weekends!
A week of exciting Jewish learning, fun, great people and great food!
And it’s in an incredibly beautiful place.
“Gateway to the Adirondacks” in upstate New York!
