Hi,
… Memory aids.
We may use them to remember important things.
Like someone’s name, birthday or anniversary.
Here’s one we can use to remember our priorities.
… The Hebrew school teacher was determined.
She was going to get the kids to remember the names of the “Five Books of Moses”.
“Who can list all five”?
One kid starts waiving his hand, “I know. I know!
It’s… Genesis. And um… um… Exodus.
And wait. I know. Don’t tell me…
Lexus?”
… Judaism has no problem with us driving nice cars.
If we’ve been blessed and can afford it?
It’s fine.
And whether we drive a Lexus or not?
The odds are that there is a simpler car that could get us where we need to go.
And in a way we all drive a Lexus.
Because to someone else?
Our car is like a Lexus!
… So here’s a tool to help keep our priorities straight.
When we get into our “Lexus”?
We should think something else.
Leviticus!
And what should come to our mind when we think Leviticus?
“Love your neighbor like yourself…
Leave a corner of your field for the poor…”
… We should enjoy our blessings.
As long as we don’t forget the needs of others.
All the best,
