Hi,
I had to share this one with you!
We’ve spoken about the need to focus on chessed. Acts of kindness.
Especially between spouses.
But be careful!
Read this first.
… One day, this fellow decides enough is enough.
He hasn’t been the kind of husband he should be.
But from now on it’s going to be different!
So he comes home from work with a big smile on his face.
And a bouquet of flowers in his hand.
“Honey. I’m a new man.
Let’s sit down and have dinner together. And talk.
I can’t wait to hear about your day!
And after dinner?
You get some rest.
I’ll take care of the kids!”
… The wife breaks down crying!
And the husband is clueless.
He thought he said all the “right things.”
Through her tears, his wife explains.
“Today has been one big disaster.
The basement is flooded. The kids drove me crazy.
I finally get them ready for carpool, and my car is dead!
And then to top it off?
You come home drunk???”
… I hope that you find the “Minute A Day” inspiring.
Maybe sometimes challenging.
And “starting today” you are going to be the “best husband or wife in the world!”
Or the best friend in the world.
It’s not going to happen. Nothing will change.
In all areas of life change has to come in small steps.
… So take it easy.
Don’t think about being best.
Think about being better.
About one extra act of chessed you can do today.
And the response will be a smile.
Guaranteed!
Have a great Shabbat,
