Hi,
Hope you enjoyed Purim.
Purim at CTN was great!
I wanted to share two things that I mentioned during Megillah reading at CTN.
Purim is a time to celebrate the miracle of Jewish survival.
And to appreciate the privilege of being part of the Jewish People.
… A Torah Minute reader e-mailed me from Israel.
He thought it was incredible to sit in Israel and access his Torah Minute!
And he mentioned that they were looking forward to seeing some ancient Roman sites.
I told him, “You have to do me a favor”!
Because I “have this thing”.
When people visit relics of mighty empires that tried to destroy us?
That tried to destroy Judaism?
I ask them to stand proudly and make a very meaningful declaration.
He e-mailed me the next day.
Mission accomplished!
“We walked through a huge Herodian Amphitheatre. And I spoke these words”.
“Rome is gone. I am still alive. And I study Torah”!
What a miracle!
… CTN ran a campaign to raise money to be given to the Jewish poor on Purim.
Many people responded very generously.
But one donation really amazed me!
Little Sarah is four and a half years old.
And she was looking forward to a special treat.
Seeing the Elmo Sesame Street play!
She decided not to go.
Instead?
She would give the money to the Jewish poor!
… It tells us alot about Sarah. And about her parents who are raising her.
But it’s also the most powerful protest against Haman.
He wanted to destroy the Jewish People.
To kill every Jewish man woman and child!
And 2500 years later?
We are still here. There are still Jewish children in the world.
And a little Jewish girl would rather give tzedakah than see Elmo Sesame Street!
All the best,
