Hope you’re having a great day.
… We know that there are many issues facing our country.
I recently saw an article about a problem I was not aware of.
And I’m not sure I’m aware of it now!
What is it?
“America ranks only 28th in Internet Connection Speeds”!
We are far behind countries likeSouth Korea,Japan,Singaporeand theNetherlands.
“People in Japan can upload a high-definition video in 12 minutes.”
And in America?
“It takes a grueling 2.5 hours!
“The US has not made significant improvements in the speeds at which residents connect to the internet.”
… I may be hopeless.
Because I grew up at a time that when you turned on the TV?
You actually had to get up and walk over to it. And turn a knob.
And it was worse.
(Some people won’t believe this!)
You literally had to wait for the TV to “warm up”!
So I happen to think Internet Access is pretty fast!
… Rosh Hashana is around the corner.
And this article reminded me of what we should really be concerned about.
It’s a different kind of connection.
How fast are we at connecting with other people?
Do we even notice other people? Do we make eye contact with them?
Do we greet them with a broad smile?
(Pun on “broadband” intended!)
How quickly do we notice that someone is down and needs to talk?
And there’s a connection that’s even quiet fast in theUSA!
A telephone.
Most of us even have one with us at all times!
How long does it take for us to call someone who needs a boost?
… Here’s my thinking.
We can put Internet speed aside, at least for the time being.
Let’s work on speeding up our connection to other people.
And when we try to connect to G-d on Rosh Hashana?
It will be a high speed connection!
