Hi,
Hope you’re having a great day.
… I recently got myself into a very “sticky” situation.
I was in a building undergoing renovations.
And when I opened the door to one of the rooms and walked in?
I heard someone yelling…
“No! Stop!” “Oh no!”
What happened?
They were putting tiles on the floor.
And I stepped right into the glue!
The good news?
The guy told me that had I come a bit later. After the glue hardened a little more?
I would have really been stuck there!
But it still wasn’t easy.
I was eventually able to pry my feet out. And I danced my way out of the room.
And spent the next hour rubbing turpentine on my shoes. And rubbing some more.
Trying to get that “gooey stuff” off.
… Is there a “reason” this happened to me?
Was G-d telling me something?
I don’t know.
But in Jewish tradition we’re taught that if we don’t know why?
We should ask what?
What can I do with this experience?
Is there some way it can help me become a better person?
…I think there is.
The next time I’m having “one of those days”?
And my patience is running out?
“Don’t expect me to be in a good mood today!
One wrong step and I’ll finally let you have it!
“I’m not going to be “Mr. nice guy” all the time.
I’m finally going to put my foot down!
… I’ll remember stepping into that glue! And how afterwards I wished I didn’t.
And I’ll say to myself…
“Calm down. Don’t put your foot down.
You may not be able to “pick it up” when you want to.
You’ll probably wish you didn’t.
And you may end up doing a lot of damage control”!
All the best,
